Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP, was the 1st platelet concentrate used in esthetics 30 years ago primarily for the growth factor stimulators used in tissue regeneration. The main drawback is its incorporation of anticoagulants which are known to inhibit wound healing. Over the last 10 years, Platelet Rich Fibrin, PRF,
has been used as a more natural and effective platelet concentrate because of the removal of anticoagulants, modifications to centrifuge speeds, and the use of horizontal centrifuges. These new protocols have led to the 2nd Generation PRF. Liquid PRF matrix contains the highest proportion of platelets and growth factors by volume and is the best formulation for small volume injections. PRF naturally regenerates tissues, resulting in a natural looking outcome. Injectable ALB-PRF Gel is used to fill deeper facial voids and to extend the reabsorption of Liquid PRF from 2 to 3 weeks to 3 to 6 months.
